  1. What is Tropicana Employment Centre?

    Tropicana Employment Centre is a non-profit unemployment centre in Toronto with offices near the intersection of Victoria Park and Sheppard Avenue.  Tropicana Employment Centre provides employment counselling, job development, recruitment, training and a job search resource centre.

  2. Where is Tropicana Employment Centre located?

    Tropicana Employment Centre is located near the boundary of North York and Scarborough at 505 Consumers Road, Suite 102.  Our office is west of the intersection of Victoria Park and Consumers road and south of Victoria Park and Sheppard Avenue.  If you are travelling by TTC, take the 24 or 24A bus from Victoria Park or Don Mills subway station.  If you are driving, paid parking is available off of Halcrown Place. 

  3. Does Tropicana Employment Centre only serve youth?

    No.  Tropicana Employment Centre does help find youth work opportunities, but anyone looking for assistance with their job search and employment-related goals are able to access the services offered here.

    Tropicana Employment Centre is the employment division of Tropicana Community Services.

  5. Is it possible to volunteer or do a student placement at Tropicana Employment Centre?

    Yes. Tropicana Employment Centre regularly participates in volunteer and student placement programs. If you are interested in completing a student placement with Tropicana Employment Centre, contact the Manager, Placement Services via email at jobs@tropicanaemployment.ca. If you are interested in volunteering with Tropicana Employment Centre, contact the Resource and Information Facilitator via email at resourcecentre@tropicanaemployment.ca.

    Simply drop by the office and a counsellor will be able to help you find the program and access the services that will best address your needs.

  7. I'm looking for a job.  How can Tropicana Employment Centre help?

    Tropicana Employment Centre can help you look for a job by providing employment counselling and job development support to assist with resumes, cover letters, interview skills and career planning.  We can also connect job seekers to employers. We also offer training opportunities to further enhance your marketable skills.

  8. I'm an employer looking to hire.  How can Tropicana Employment Centre help?

    Tropicana Employment Centre can provide employers with a pool of suitable applicants for a particular position or can be more involved by screening and selecting candidates.  If you are an employer interested, contact Tropicana Employment Centre and ask to speak with a job developer.

  9. Why does Tropicana Employment Centre need identification to sign me up for a program?

    There are two main reasons that we require identification from program participants.  We need to provide our funders with documentation in order to ensure that participants are eligible for the programs. We also need to be certain that clients are eligible to work in Canada when referring clients to employers.

  10. How is Tropicana Employment Centre funded?

    Tropicana Employment Centre delivers a variety of programs with different government funders including the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities, Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration Canada and the Ontario Disability Support Program.

  11. What are Tropicana Employment Centre's business hours?

    The hours of operation at Tropicana Employment Centre are:

    • Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 6:30pm.
    • Fridays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
    • Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
       
  12. Does Tropicana Employment Centre charge for its services?

    Since Tropicana Employment Centre is a non-profit organization, most services are offered free of charge. The only exceptions are some of the certification workshops.
