The Self Directed Job Search is not a workshop.  It is an independent job search activity where participants join in the R&I area and work on their own. Participants are free to work on their own schedule.

  • It's Self-Directed services for clients who are looking for a job in an independent manner but just require the resources to do so
  • Career planning tools to help you determine the best career for you
  • Tip sheets relating to topics such as job search, networking, résumés, cover letters, interviews
  • Internet access to search online for potential employers and job opportunities
  • Participants will receive a hand-out package with tips and resources to access job leads and /or employers.

Smart Serve® Training Workshop

Workshop Description

Smart Serve is for people who work or volunteer in an environment in which alcoholic beverages are served. The workshop helps people to develop proactive approaches to preventing alcohol-related problems, to recognize signs of intoxication and to implement intervention strategies for aggressive customers.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Session

Workshop Description: 

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is for employees who work in industries and occupations where hazardous products are used. The workshop helps people to be safe on the job while working with hazardous materials. This course was developed by The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) in partnership with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau of Health Canada.

The topics covered are:

  • Overview of WHMIS
  • Overview of hazard groups and classes
  • Labels
  • Physical hazards
  • Health hazards
  • Safety data sheets (SDSs)

Certificate of Completion is awarded to the successful completion of the course.

This training program is focused on the health and safety rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers and is a general introduction to workplace health and safety. This course was developed by the Ministry of Labour.
